Waiting, waiting waiting...

Well, we are still waiting on permits before the foundation can be started. We are being told about one more week and then permits should be completed...

Today we visited the lot and let the kids run around and looked at which trees we might want to clear. We know we want to clear a bunch in the back to make a big back yard. My mom told me about an app that will identify trees based on taking pictures of their leaves. It is called Leafsnap. We used it today to figure out what some of the deciduous trees are on our property. We know we want to get rid of most of the sweetgum trees. Luckily, there are also a bunch of tulip poplars, kousa dogwoods, and red maples. We will leave a bunch of the pine trees too.

There are however, some aggressive poison ivy vines. they are huge and hairy and really creep me out. Here is a picture.
see what I mean? gross.
Also, we did see a big hole where the septic should go. Well, we are assuming. I mean, what else would this random hole be in the back of the lot?
I just realized it looks like a grave...but no... has to be septic system right????

Here are some pictures from today and a picture of some of the trees I have identified via Leafsnap.

A bucket is a must for a lot walk with Ava. Baby pine cones are her favorite to hunt.

Here is  a view from almost our back property line to the back neighbors house. Think they move in this weekend.

You just take a picture of the leaf on a white piece of paper and voila!
